Jeremy D Higgs, Author of Technology & Science Today

wireless energy theory, jeremy d higgs, open induction, wireless charging theory, open induction wireless theory, energy theorist, wireless energy theory, wireless charge pads,
Today we are interviewing Jeremy D Higgs about his new non-fiction book, titled "Technology & Science Today.”

Who do you think would most appreciate this book?
This book really targets non-technology buffs and introduces new readers to the concepts.

What inspired you to write this book?
I was working on the Open Induction Wireless Theory and wanted to publish its overview.

Tell us how your interest in science and technology developed.
I began using technology at an early age, my parents are younger in age and we always had the newest technology in our home. My dad was especially interested in new technologies growing up.

You’re also an energy theorist. For people unfamiliar with this field, can you tell us about it?
I was the person to identify and develop the theory for complete wireless buildings where you do not need to charge any device via a cable.

Can you share with us about wireless energy theory?
Imagine a world where you do not plug in your phone when you get home, your laptop charges on its own while in a coffee shop, or you experience a high school that is designated as a charging facility.

What tell us about the phenomenon of open induction?
Electronic cars keep going forever without gasoline and a patient using hearing aids can depend on the battery for a lifetime. This is our future and is closer than you think. The open Induction Concept is a technology innovation proposal that stems from the initial technology use of induction mobile charging similar to todays trending wireless phone charging.

Wireless charge pads are truly touch-less charging however the energy that is emitted is low and needs a close placement to work, however in theory, if you increase the energy rate you would be able to increase the induction distance.

Author Jeremy D. Higgs.

Did writing the book take you to unexpected places or reveal things you hadn’t thought about before?

I wanted to publish part of the wireless charging theory in a book as soon as possible, it has opened up a few doors for me.

Can you tell us a bit about your writing process?
I am not much of a writer; being in programming has helped me learn a little more about the process myself.

What was the most challenging aspect of writing the book?
Publishing it.

How have readers responded to your book so far?
The response has really been amazing, I am so thankful that it has been well received in the community so far.

What do you have in mind for your next writing project?
I hope to publish my theory in detail after the patent is finished.

Is there anything else you'd like potential readers to know about your book?
I would like people to know this is an easy read, most people would say around the 6th grade reading level. It is simple to understand and follow, do not be afraid of the content.

Julian Michael Carver, Author of A Raptor Ate My Homework (The Backpack Dinosaur Book 1)

raptor ate my homework, julian Michael carver, children's fiction, dinosaur, adventure, velociraptor, children's adventure, discovery, kidlit, series, raptor
Today we are interviewing Julian Michael Carver about his new children’s adventure book “A Raptor Ate My Homework (The Backpack Dinosaur Book 1).”

Tell us a bit about yourself.
My name is Joey Kelly (pen name is Julian Michael Carver). I am 27 years old and currently live in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania with my wife Cloey.  I love to write, but my primary passion is video editing and motion graphics/animation. This enables me to do the majority of my artwork, including trailers and videos, by myself to cut back on marketing costs for my books.

Describe the plot of your book, “A Raptor Ate My Homework!,” in a few sentences.
When Andy and Anna, two fourth-grade siblings discover a strange egg in an alley near their home, they decide to smuggle it into their home without their parents knowing. When it hatches into a baby velociraptor in the attic, they must decide on how to make the dinosaur a permanent member of the family, while also overcoming bad grades and issues with the school bully.

Who do you think would most appreciate this book?
The Backpack Dinosaur series is made with children in mind who love movies like A Land Before Time or Jurassic Park. Basically, any kid who loves dinosaurs should give my book series a chance.

What is the target age range of your book?
The age range for The Backpack Dinosaur books would be children in grades 2-5.

Tell us about your protagonists, Andy and Anna.
Andy is very shy and obsessed with dinosaurs. I see a lot of myself as a child in his character and have a lot of fun writing about him. Anna is much more bold and straight-forward. Her personality usually drives the plot lines to action.

The twins discover the egg hatches into a baby velociraptor in their attic. How do they react to this discovery?
Instantly they are met with curiosity and infatuation with the little dinosaur, who soon warms up to their hearts as they struggle to figure out how to convince their parents to keep it. They also learn that having a dinosaur, especially a velociraptor, as a pet can come in handy in various situations that they encounter throughout the series.

Are there any authors who have influenced your writing style?
I loved the writing styles of R.L.Stine (Goosebumps) and Debbie Dadey and Marcia Jones (The Bailey School Kids). They really wrote some awesome literature in my childhood. If their book series hadn't come out, I'm sure The Backpack Dinosaur series wouldn't be out. Also, obviously Michael Crichton is a big influence to me. The Lost World is my favorite novel.

Author Julian Michael Carver.
How long have you been writing?
I've been writing since the 7th grade. I self-published a book that year in 2006 through a vanity press (a hard life-lesson that I'll never repeat). Since then I fell away from writing for awhile until 2015 when I decided to start again.

How do you think you've evolved as a writer since when you first started?
When I first started writing, I thought I had to describe everyone and everything in my books with Tolkien-like precision. Now I'm a lot more relaxed and let the reader fill in the blanks in their head however they wish. I'm all about world-building, but sometimes I think a lot of writers go overboard with it.

What are your goals as a writer for the next ten years?
Wow, what a great question! Hopefully to have many more beautifully artful books written and in circulation for The Backpack Dinosaur Series. Maybe a few stand-alone books as well!

How have your readers responded to the book so far?
The series has been met with great reviews. If anyone reading this decides to buy a copy, please review it on Amazon and Goodreads! Also, buyers tend to love the covers! They're very vibrant and made with the 90's paperback look in mind.

How many books do you have planned for The Backpack Dinosaur series? Do you have an anticipated release date for the second book?
I have, in an email draft form, plans for at least 20 potential The Backpack Dinosaur books. My plans are to release at most 2 books a year and at least 1. The second book in the series, Camp Raptor, is a Halloween-themed book in the series and will be released on October 1st of this year. I just released the book cover reveal trailer on YouTube and Twitter the other day!

Is there anything else you'd like potential readers to know about your book?
In a world where children's literature is dominated by dragons, knights, elves, vampires, super-heroes and zombies, my series will finally bring dinosaurs back into kidlit in a positive, fun way. If you want your child to have a safe, easy-to-read story, please pick up a copy of A Raptor Ate My Homework! and consider Camp Raptor when it comes out! It's hard for Indie authors to get noticed today, and with your help, we can make The Backpack Dinosaur a favorite among the new generation! Thank you for reading and hope you enjoyed my interview!

Tanya Jones, Author of Somewhere In Between: Notes with a Russian Accent

russian memoir, russian short stories, Putin’s Russia, Soviet Russia, Brexit, American dream, tanya jones, somewhere in between
Today we are interviewing Tanya Jones author of a new memoir, titled “SOMEWHERE IN BETWEEN: Notes with a Russian Accent.”

Tell us a bit about yourself.
Oh. It’s so hard to talk about myself. But I'll try.

Once upon a time in the Soviet Union there was a girl named Tanya Meshavkina. Her mom worked in a library and her her dad spent almost his whole life working in the editorial office of the regional newspaper. Book stacks were placed in every room of their apartments, including the kitchen. We were reading and reading...

My dad wrote a historical novel, Permianka – Bitter Salt. The money from the book was spent on polished furniture that lasted them a lifetime. Then dad wrote a story, “Tuesday - is the bureau day”. But while he was still making improvements, perestroika broke out and the single-party subject became irrelevant.

I was granted my first Certificate of Creativity from “Pioneer” magazine for the best story dedicated to commemorating the Revolution. Nevertheless, I was more and more in doubt about my future: should I be a director of a village council, or an archaeologist, or a journalist? My dad kept saying it was easy to walk the beaten trail, but difficult to find your own one. He was very happy to find out I was going to work in radio. I was recruited as a reporter for the youth editorial department.

What an amazing time that was! I flew in a helicopter to see geologists, visited Soviet student construction brigades, collective farms, and state timber industry enterprises. I always tried to be open and to speak people’s minds for them. Sometimes it worked really well. I still keep a postcard: “Dear Tanusha! Thanks a lot for fighting sluggards. Our hearts are with you fighting for the truth! Construction team from Maykor.”

Then there was years of work at newspapers. In 1994 I was awarded the Golden Pen diploma of the Union of Journalists of Russia.

In 2009, I launched the site balakovo-news.ru. The plans had a lot of things, but without financial support. Meanwhile, competitors appeared with both finances and plans. And I got a chance to leave the country and start all over again.

I had to forget about the Russian university diplomas and go to Swindon College to learn English. First, there were courses for immigrants (ESOL 1 and 2), and then the English GCSE. At the same time I did take writing class, collaborated with Highworth Link magazine.

And this year I launched my first book.

russian memoir, russian short stories, Putin’s Russia, Soviet Russia, Brexit, American dream, tanya jones, somewhere in between
Describe your book, “SOMEWHERE IN BETWEEN: Notes with a Russian accent,” in a few sentences.
It’s a memoirs or genre notes about the last days of The Soviet Union with its endless queues for food and soap. About poverty and oligarchs that appeared in post-soviet Russia. About reality of life in Moscow and far end provinces. About journalism and reporters. About phenomena of Putin. About American dream and political correctness. About immigrants, issues with translation and mastering the word ‘brexit’ in Russian language.

Who do you think would most appreciate this book?
Anyone with an interest in soviet and modern Russia. Maybe this book can help to better understand Russian society, politics, culture. At the same time is deeply personal memoirs so this book might find interesting those who love nonfiction or those who enjoy stories about real people.

What inspired you to write this book?
Memory is the key word. We want to remember what happened to us in the past, what we achieved or wanted to achieve, what we did and what we did not. With time, our memory is slowly erased, becoming less bright. And the memoirs are like confirmation that your life really existed.

I understand perfectly that if you are not a super star like Kim Kardashian, your life doesn’t count. And yet...

You have an interesting perspective as a journalist. What originally got you interested in journalism?
Who owns the information, he owns the world. Joke. But seriously journalism’s all I ever wanted to do because that profession it’s a constant movement, self-development, the discovery of new people, cities and countries. It’s not just work, but rather a state of mind, then what you need to live and breathe. Plus it runs in the family. My dad was the editor at the newspape, my brother Sergei founded a newspaper, “Parma News”, which was considered the best-designed newspaper in Russia. Now he is a media coach.

What are some of the most salient things that you remember about life in the Soviet Union?
Stability, confidence in the future and humanity – that’s what missing in modern Russia.

Additionally, you write about life in post-Soviet Russia and Putin. What can you tell us about what life was like then?
I will cite an anecdote.
Clinton asks God: When will my people live happily? – In twenty years, God replied. Clinton went away crying.
Yeltsin asks God: when will my people live happily? God went away crying.
You’ll know more from my book.

At the age of 50, you decided to move to England. What prompted this move? Is life in England what you expected?
It’s not what, it’s who. My husband John. As for the life in England: we are really VERY DIFFERENT. This is a completely different culture from interpersonal relationships to social priorities. As russian writer Lev Anninskiy has so rightly pointed out about England, “the individual in their civilization is cherished. Not a person but a simple lump of matter walking on two legs. Its right is hallowed.”

What part of Russia did you grow up in? Is life different in Moscow compared to other parts of Russia?
I grew up in the Urals, where usually four months were cold and the remaining eight months were very cold. But I’m hardened. And as provincial I can tell Moscow and the rest of Russia are two different countries. Moscow is a showcase. A high standard of living is artificially maintained here. About 80% of all the country's finances are rolls in Moscow. Taxes from Muscovites go to Moscow. Taxes from the provincial are also go to Moscow. If Moscow lives in the 21st century, then the province is sometimes still in the 19th. In the hinterland there is sometimes not even electricity.

You also write about political correctness. What are some of your thoughts on this?
In October 2008, as part of a delegation of Russian journalists, I went to the election of the 44th President of the United States. A day before elections, one of my colleagues made a joke: “Under certain circumstances, tomorrow may become a “black Tuesday”. Thankfully that’s turned out okay.

Another example. African-Americans inhabit the poorest areas of Dayton. Old flaky houses; dirty and poorly dressed children running in the courtyards. Their parents mostly don’t work but live on benefits, and have children. And then they live on benefits again. When their children grow up they live on benefits too. So what is behind this political correctness: a feeling of guilt or a common consideration of ethics?

Local teachers demanded that Tolkien's works must be excluded from the school сurriculum only because the writer did not have a single positive image of dark forces. According to the rules of political correctness, out of 4 hobbits, one was supposed to be a woman, the second black, the third Asian, and the fourth gay.

George Orwell once wrote that political correctness is a doublethinking when someone says one things but means another. Personally, I think that PC in America it’s an exceptional example of good idea brought to the point of absurdity.

Are there any authors who have influenced your writing style?
No. With style are usually born. Style is a person. I should say style is a gait, such is its own literary gait. In the process of creative life, the style can be honed, improved ... But it is usually born with it.

My favourite authors are Conan Doyle, Vladimir Nabokov, Francoise Sagan, Sergey Dovlatov, Haruki Murakami. I can re-read and open new things in Milne’s book Winnie-the –Pooh or laugh again reading Martti Larney's The Fourth Vertebra. Joanne K Rouling taught me that books should be logical.

What do you have in mind for your next writing project?
Tasty book. About eternal. About food.

Jerm Davitos | Rebuilding the Temple of Jeremiah

Jerm Davitos, Jerm Davitos poetry, Rebuilding, Jeremiah Davitos, rebuilding the temple of jeremiah, poetry anthology, young poet, poetry compliation, poetry book,
Today we are interviewing Jerm Davitos about his poetry compilation “Rebuilding the Temple Of Jeremiah.”

Tell us a bit about yourself.
My name is Jeremiah Davis, I’m twenty-two years old, and I’m a writer from Greenville, South Carolina.

Describe your new release, “Rebuilding the Temple of Jeremiah.”
Well, it a collection of myself. It’s a written version of myself, my mental health, my diagnosis, my past, my identities, and my hurt. It has a lot to do with me forgiving myself and most importantly giving myself that permission. Rebuilding the Temple Of Jeremiah is a fear and comfort zone broken into truth and courage. I might say breaking has not been a bad thing for me, while writhing this.

Who do you think would most appreciate your work?
I think people who would most appreciate this book is people who neglect themselves. People who haven’t yet discovered the right to exist and thrive. I also think this work could be for ones that disrupt their healing process.

What inspirations contributed to “Rebuilding the Temple of Jeremiah”?
There’s a few I’ll name two. First, “the body” really hit home for me. My body is the temple that houses my spirit. I feel that respecting your existence is of great importance. With that in the open it was something I needed to work on, and it inspired the conceiving of the book. Second inspiration has to come from the people that choose to shine on which ever or whoever needed light. Artist like mother, Hope Davis and poet Danez Smith really made it possible for me to take flight into creating my own healing.

Poet Jerm Davitos.

Could you tell us a bit about your style of poetry?
I follow the motto… “everything has a perspective. I try to never back down from telling the perspective of anything around a situation. In other words my writing style provides a voice.

Is there a poet that had a major influence on your writing style?
My Fish. She was a poet to me. Her movement influenced  a lot decisions surrounding my dealings with depression she helped me with love and steadiness to sit in a moment of life. I feel like if she could ever speak she would say “you deserve to be great, not okay.”.

How long have you been writing poetry?
I’ve been writing poetry since I was in the sixth grade.

What was your favorite poem to write?
My favorite written in this book has to be “Dear Epistolary Poem,”

How do you think you've evolved as a poet since when you first started?
I feel like I’ve evolved in two ways. First, I GO THERE!!! I don’t hold back to comfort your family, defend your upbringing, and fight your curiosity. Second, do NOT be afraid of to feel uncomfortable emotions.i experience them when I’m ready but with more ease.

Are there any aspects (e.g. imagery, etc) of your poetry that you've been practicing?
I’ve been practicing intertwining element of writing (ex. Sexual depressed writing).

What are your goals as a poet for the next ten years?
I want to share my story, the story that comes from my heart. I want to survive for the deceased. I also want to continue remaining true to my voice.

How have your readers responded to your poems so far?
It’s shocking and rewarding. Many will say they feel as though they wrote it or directly went through wether circumstances are similar or not.

What do you have in mind for your next project?
I plan to rip the truths off the pages and stay myself. I also plan to be more established as a writer.

German Best-Selling Author Simone Illi, Author of Back to the Light – A Guide to your Awakening

consouller, alternative therapy healing book, self help, psychology guide, meditation guide, selffinding, simon illi dobeli, back to the light, guide to your awakening
Today we are interviewing German best-selling author Simone Illi about her self-help / alternative therapy book, titled “Back to the Light – A Guide to your Awakening.”

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I am born in Switzerland, and I am now 42 Years old I am married and have 3 Girls. We have livedin Cyprus for 4 years (2015).After many years of addiction, depression and panic attacks, I finally found myself. I have arrived, and my addictions, fears and depressions have been healed for over 10 years. Anyone can use this technique to heal themselves and enjoy a life of joy, ease and abundance. I have been successfully teaching this for over 10 years in seminars. It is still a fulfilling feeling when I see how people recognize. that they can be happy. That makes my vocation so nice!

Describe your book in a few sentences.
A book that can heal. A book that speaks the truth. A book that brings knowledge. A book that wants to be lived. A book that you can feel. A book full of wonders

This book is intended for anyone who wants to learn more about themselves, but also as a basis for any self-discovery or healing seminar.
The book has also proven itself as a reference work in practice or on the way in your handbag! After all, more knowledge than what is written in this book is not needed to heal one's soul / psyche, to arrive at one's destination and to lead a life as one dreams and desires from the heart! In love, joy, lightness and abundance! It also includes a complete healing pathway that can be taught in seminars!

What made me write a book?
Since 2011, I have offered seminars and training in the new age / energy! I guide people on the direct, not always easy, way to themselves! Again, and again we come across the same "problems", which are actually none at all.

My aim is to make my knowledge available to many people and to explain how easy it is to heal one's soul and rediscover one's light so that life can be lived in abundance! My experience shows that nothing is as simple as living in love, joy, abundance and ease once you have recognized and understood what life is really about!

Many people are confused about the numerous offers in the esoteric world or psychotherapies that seem to do nothing. Many alternative training and healing possibilities are offered and apparently every teacher or doctor has the right to be the only true teacher / doctor. Of course, this is confusing! Especially when you are in the middle of chaos, which is called everyday life and urgently looking for a way out.

Finally, you come across or hear of a "Guru", who calls himself Master and is a few thousand dollars (or euros) poorer and in addition you have become even more dependent. None of this has to be the case.

What first got you interested in meditation and self-improvement?
I finally wanted to be free of addiction and get rid of my fears.

What are some things that people should know before trying to learn meditation for the first time?
Learning to meditate is not that difficult. Just sit 10 minutes without moving. Without music and without mantra. Do not move, no matter what. If you can do this 3 days in a row, do the same with 20 minutes. If you do it again 3 days in a row, then increase it by 10 minutes.
At some point, if you follow this instruction, you will experience what it is like to completely relax without thinking. A fantastic feeling that brings you a lot of stability, calmness, clarity and insight! Of course guided meditations are great as well, but this is the fastest way to get into the freedom of thought.

What are some common mistakes people make when getting started with meditation?
They expect too much and are too strict with themselves.

What was the most interesting thing you uncovered while doing research for the book?
Well, I did not have to research. The book was written by my spiritual leadership. The best part of it was the high energy that accompanied me and the experience of being completely trusted and giving myself to the leadership without knowing where it goes.

Did writing the book take you to unexpected places or reveal things you hadn’t thought about before?
In fact, there were some touching experiences and insights. For example, when I woke up in the middle of the night with an AHA experience and much became clear. Especially in relation to my own past. Everyone will find themselves in this story. This makes the book a wonderful journey to itself.

Can you tell us a bit about your writing process?
For some time I wanted to create a book in cooperation with the spiritual world. But nothing felt right and supported until one morning the title of the book was given to me: "Back to the Light - A Guide to Awakening!" I already mentioned the rest before.

What was the most challenging aspect of writing the book?
The biggest challenge was time management and making enough time for my family.

How long did writing your book take?
It took about 5 months from starting the manuscript to getting it published.

How did the book evolve from the initial idea to the finished manuscript?
As mentioned earlier, it has evolved during writing.

When do you expect your book to be released?
The English version will be available from September 19, 2019 on Amazon and everywhere in stores.

Do you plan to release your book in multiple languages?
At the moment it is German and English available. The Greek and Spanish versions are in progress. If there's a demand, it will be published in Russian and French as well!

What do you hope readers will gain from reading your book?
That many people find themselves. So that a peaceful life on earth is possible again. That people recognize that they are great and can achieve anything. Everyone can live a life of joy, love, ease and abundance. That's what I want to teach with this book.

Are they any authors who have influenced your writing style?
No, I follow no one. I live 100% to my heart. The way I am, that's me. Whether while writing or in general in life. I had no role models, I always lived with and for myself. At the beginning, of course, more out of self-protection. over time, however, I became more and more aware of who I am. Of course, I also read books by Pascal Voggenhuber and others and found this work wonderful. But I always lacked that certain something. that's why I can not be anything but exactly 100% myself.

In ten years, where would you like your writing career to be?
Again, I have no idea. I give myself unconditionally to growth, change and my guidance.

How do you feel about the increasing popularity of ebooks?
E-books are great too. It's the modern time. But honestly? nothing can replace a book in your hands. It is not the same feeling. Especially with this one feels already, if one holds it in the hands, that it is very special. It feels different than other books. Anyone who has read it understands the magic behind it

What do you have in mind for your next writing project?
There is already a lot in the works. The one German e-book that is already online is a book for stomach and intestinal complaints. A 21-day treatment guaranteed to relieve or even heal the symptoms. (without healing promise) Then a Vegan recipe book is now in the works, which also contains valuable tips for a conscious life.As well as the book for interpretation of your disease symptoms. All diseases have their origin in the soul, I am convinced of that. I explain this in the book plausible. and bring examples. Then there are still some in work that I do not want to reveal yet. But it remains exciting

Is there anything else you'd like potential readers to know about your book?
Yes! Please only read if you want to change something. You can really find yourself with this book.
But just reading and doing nothing has brought no one to the front. When man is ready to look at his wounds in the depths of his soul. Then this book is a blessing and, like thousands of others, will bring you much healing, recognition, clarity and support! In the end, the book brings you to yourself. Back to the light - On the bright side of life.

What can people expect if they visit Cyprus and attend one of your seminars?
It expects deep psychological work, as well as balancing, yoga or Qi Gong, as well as methods are taught how to make his life easier and more free. If you want, you can also develop spiritually. We have many opportunities to offer what the seminar participant currently needs and really needs. So we find exactly the right one! Also applies to normal appointments via WhatsApp business or Skype. For this we offer a free informational appointment which you can book without obligation at: www.namaskar-institut.com.

I hear you are visited by pain patients worldwide and they are satisfied.  How does this happen? What is your success? Do you work differently than the doctors?
This question is asked often and to be honest, I have to laugh each time. Yes, we work very differently. Our goal is to get the patient or student off to a lighter and more pain-free life as soon as possible. We do NOT rely on medications and we believe that our bodies provide us with enough information to know what we can or should change in our lives, so that the body can live in harmony with us again. Of course, it is not always without medication, but the goal is painlessly without aids to live again pleasant and joyful. We are convinced that the self-healing goals of our body are enormous and are often ignored by the doctors. The pharmaceutical industry and the doctors are earning too much money to really want to make us healthy. Of course there are exceptions. And we hope for this alternative thinking new generation of doctors!

What about the popular meditations that are available in German? Will these also available in English soon? Can I also book English seminars, books and appointments?
Yes, precisely because of this success, we are expanding internationally. We also speak English. Dates and seminars in English are possible. Mediations are in progress. The online courses will soon be published in German on: www.selbstfindung-onlinekurse.com and here also the German meditations are represented. Here, you will find sure teh courses and Meditations also in english in next year 2020! And as far as the books are concerned, the best-selling book, "Back to the Light - A Guide to Your Awakening," is the first, but not the last, to be commercially available in the near future (September 2019)!

Alisa Divine and Kate Ranta | Killing Kate: A Story of Turning Abuse and Tragedy into Transformation and Triumph

kate ranta, alias divine, surviving domestic violence, nonfiction book, Domestic Violence, Gun Violence, Overcoming Obstacles
Today we are interviewing Alisa Divine co-author, along with Kate Ranta, of “Killing Kate: A Story of Turning Abuse and Tragedy into Transformation and Triumph.”

Describe the book, “Killing Kate: A Story of Turning Abuse and Tragedy into Transformation and Triumph,” in a few sentences.
Killing Kate is a story of what happened when one woman did "just leave" as many domestic violence survivors are asked. Kate's estranged husband showed up at her apartment and shot her and her father in front of the couple's 4-year-old son. Killing Kate shares the journey as Kate rebuilds her life and becomes an advocate for gun and intimate partner violence.

What inspired you to share this story with the world?
I met Kate through a book I was writing, #SheWins, I interview and photographed her for, along with several other women across the globe. I knew Kate's story was shocking from the warning signs she missed to the way the court system let her down in denying three restraining orders before the shooting. Telling Kate's story can bring change and awareness to many.

Who do you think would most benefit from reading "Killing Kate"?
Anyone who has been affected by domestic violence or knows someone who has. The statistics are 1 in 3 women will have experienced domestic violence. Add in knowing someone and the audience grows significantly.

What are some misconceptions about domestic violence?
If women are being abused, they should just leave and that would solve everything. Not necessarily. Leaving is the most dangerous time for a woman. The man has lost the control and power he once had over her and he may attempt to get it back by stalking or worse. If there are firearms in the home, her risk of homicide goes up 500%.

Was it difficult for Kate to revisit traumatic memories while writing the book?
It was difficult for Kate to revisit the trauma she experienced and that is where I came in as the co-author to help the book-writing process along. Survivors often feel shame and blame themselves for getting into an abusive relationship, the red flags they missed, loving someone too much, not leaving sooner and the friends and family affected along the way.

Can you tell us some of the things Kate did to heal from her trauma?
In Killing Kate, you can follow along on her healing process and see how there were many small factors that led to her healing. Details such as changing her hair color as Kate's husband liked long, blonde hair and she wanted anything but that to making choices that were in her personal interest rather than going by the opinions of others. Speaking out and advocacy helped Kate to turn her pain into power. There is a beautiful process of transformation.
kate ranta, alias divine, surviving domestic violence, nonfiction book, Domestic Violence, Gun Violence, Overcoming Obstacles

Do you have any advice for someone who has been in a domestic violence situation?
Please find one person you trust and share your experiences with. There are people to help — you have to make the first move and know you deserve freedom and happiness. Get the help you need to make a safety plan. Let go of the shame, forgive yourself and reach out for help. You are worth it!

On a similar note, do you have any advice or things to consider for someone who knows someone in a domestic violence situation?
If you are concerned, approach the person from a place of compassion rather than judgment that they are in, or still in an abusive relationship. Often there are circumstances outsiders are not aware of such as emotional abuse,  financial control, custody threats, or homelessness that scare women from leaving. Offer to help them — or find a service who can assist. A safety plan is important to have before leaving.

How did the book evolve from the initial idea to the finished manuscript?
Kate and I discussed the warning signs, the ways in which they were difficult to identify at the time and reasoning behind that. We worked closely through her experiences and stories to have a theme for each chapter. The first half of the book is a back and forth where readers can see how there are crazy signs and also the thread of wanting to have a loving relationship and family. The second half of the book goes through the court process and where Kate begins to rebuild her life. We actually had a rough draft in 16 weeks, a year ago. This past year has consisted of editing, restructuring, along with the layout and printing process.

Can you share how your interest in writing developed? Did you always know you wanted to write or was it something that evolved with time?
I've always been a writer, I never thought there was a place for me in writing. That is until I began the book, #SheWins. I wanted to show women overcoming abuse as strong and powerful. As a survivor myself, I wanted to change the way society sees abused women and open the conversation — abuse thrives in secrecy. Once I began walking the path of #SheWins, I was offered a position as Vice President of a publishing company, Personal Power Press. I met Kate and knew her story had to be shared with the world. I have never looked back. Helping others tell their stories of overcoming is where my passion is. We work with individuals and also offer theme-based anthologies as a platform to help others.

Mark J. Spinicelli, Author of Catching a Miracle

best action thriller novels of all time, best mystery suspense books of all time, best suspense thriller books of all time, best suspense thriller novels of all time
Today we are interviewing Mark J. Spinicelli about his new suspense / action novel, titled “Catching a Miracle.”

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I run an audio-visual / entertainment production company in Orlando, FL.

Describe your book, “Catching a Miracle,” in a few sentences.
In 1972, an 8-year-old girl has her cancer disappear overnight. Thirty years later, she is now a doctor specializing in treating pediatric cancer, while trying to find an explanation for her own miracle.

Who do you think would most appreciate this book?
Anyone touched by cancer or those who believe a cure for cancer does exist.

Tell us about the story’s protagonist, Dr. Shelly White.
She is a very strong woman who dedicates her life to save children from the very disease that almost killed her.

Shelly’s mission to cure cancer takes a dramatic turn when she meets Nicholas Harris. Without giving too much away, what can you tell us about Nicholas?
Nick is a successful advertising executive who holds a secret about Dr. Shelly White’s experience as a young cancer patient at St. Theresa’s.

Dr. Shelly White was mysteriously cured from cancer as a child. Does the story delve into how this occurred?
Yes.

There has been a fair amount of conspiracy theories surrounding the notion that profitability is hampering the progress for a cure for cancer. Were you inspired by these theories at all? Did you research these theories for your book?
Cancer is a “gold mine” for anyone involved in treating the disease. The only loser is the patient.

Is there an author that has influenced your writing style?
No, not in particular.

How long have you been writing?
About 5 years.

Who was your favorite character to write/develop?
Colonel John “Hack” Taylor.

“Catching a Miracle” is the first book in a trilogy. What can readers expect from books two and three?
The suspense is mixed in with a bit of humor in book one. Books two and three bring elements of the US federal government into play, namely the US Marshalls Office, the FBI, and even the NSA.

Author Mark J. Spinicelli.

How do you think you've evolved as a writer since when you first started?
I’ve been told by my West Coast, California-based professor & editor that book three, Sparrow in the Fog, is as good as or better than The Maltese Falcon.

Are there any aspects (e.g. character building, world building) of your writing that you've been practicing?
No.

What are your goals as a writer for the next ten years?
My goal is to continue to develop and evolve the characters from the US Marshalls Office, the FBI, NSA, and possibly more.

How have your readers responded to the book so far?
Yes, I’ve been told the story is great and they would like to see it made into a film.

Is there any aspect of writing you don't like?
Editors are ruthless!

On a similar note, what is your favorite aspect of writing?
Making up characters in my head and bringing them to life.

Have you ever had writer's block? If yes, how'd you deal with it? If you have not had writer's block, why do you think you haven't?
I’ve never had any trouble in that area.

What do you have in mind for your next project?
A Senator running for President in book three, Sparrow In The Fog, could be an accessory to the murder of a doctor who claimed to have a cure for a terrible disease.

Is there anything else you'd like potential readers to know about your book?
My hope is these books will lead to film projects that may lead others to realize that this is more than just a story, it is an idea to find a cure that has never been tried before. Greed is a powerful incentive to find the things that are hidden.

P.R. Sharp, Author of Slug on a Bone

metaphysical journey, fantasy adventure, life after death, visual storytelling, conscience, pr sharp, slug on a bone
Today we are interviewing P.R. SHARP about his new metaphysical / fantasy fiction book, titled “Slug on a Bone.”

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’m 54 and live in Yorkshire UK with my Border Collie ‘Moya’. I’ve been a struggling, rejected writer for years and have a box of rejection letters going back to about 1994!
I started self publishing in 2015 with my first book Ace of Spades Chronicles and have ‘numerous projects in various levels of development,’ as they say.

Describe your book, “Slug On A Bone,” in a few sentences.
It was very hard to come up with a suitable outline that wouldn’t give the situation and the conclusion away too soon, so I think that the back cover blurb sums it up best. (Hope that’s not a cop-out?)
Jack Finch knew who he was. He knew that he was madly in love with a girl called Marie. He knew that he might have done something very bad. He also knew that his conscience and his will power had somehow manifested into flesh & blood & kept turning up in the strangest places. And that’s about all he knew…Pursued by a malevolent force and possibly suffering from amnesia, he had no idea where he was, how he arrived or where he was heading and didn’t know what he would find when he got to his destination. Wherever that might be. Whatever was happening, it would take Jack on a fantastically allegorical, at times frightening and occasionally funny journey of discovery and revelation.

Who do you think would most appreciate this book?
I think it has the potential to attract quite a broad range of readers, which will hopefully invite very different but positive reactions from males & females alike. If the reader likes a bit of mystery wrapped up in a metaphysical fantasy/horror with a smidge of a love story, they are in for a ride.

Tell us about the protagonist, Jack Finch.
Oh Jack. He’s a good lad, but he has issues. He’s complex to the point where even he doesn’t know just how complex he is.

Jack, who may be suffering from amnesia, must embark on a journey to find answers. With all the unanswered questions plaguing Jack, how does he find direction during his journey?
There is no obvious direction or path for Jack to follow. The journey is the direction, if that makes sense? He makes a decision very early on to let it take him where it may, and deals with each situation/question at it arrives.

Is there an author that has had a major influence on your writing?
Stephen King.

Who was your favorite character to write?
Definitively Jack, but Marie comes a close second.

metaphysical journey, fantasy adventure, life after death, visual storytelling, conscience, pr sharp, slug on a bone
Author P.R. Sharp.
How do you think you've evolved as a writer since when you first started?
My motivation to get the stories out of my head has improved for sure. Most writers will relate to a spot of procrastination when it comes to getting started on a project, and I now have the self discipline to write every day, but it wasn’t always like that.

Are there any aspects (e.g. character building, world building) of your writing that you've been practicing?
I’ve never really had a problem with that side of things, but being a good editor takes practice. Knowing what to cut is key.

What are your goals as a writer for the next ten years?
To keep writing everyday. I would love to see one of my stories made into a movie.

How have your readers responded to the book so far?
Very positive. They love the premise and can picture the events as they unfold very clearly.  A few toes curled and a few tears shed.

Have you ever had writer's block? If yes, how'd you deal with it? If you have not had writer's block, why do you think you haven't?
I see writers block as a necessary evil. It can be incredibly productive to be in creative limbo. Your mind is so preoccupied with the problem, it can be quite depressing; so I go back to the beginning and re read and edit as I go until I return to the block. It usually takes a couple of attempts using this method to break through, but it works, and it helps tighten up the previous draft.

What do you have in mind for your next project?
A 100% horror story set in the North Yorkshire Dales based on a script I wrote a few years ago called ‘Redcap’. Also currently writing a sequel to Ace of Spades Chronicles and a time travel/flash point love story.
